adidas Hyperboost Run Review: Give Everyday Miles a Boost

In May 2026, our review team tested adidas’s first shoe with Hyperboost Pro foam: the adidas Hyperboost Edge. We were impressed with the brand’s modern take on Boost technology, which uses a pelletized version of adidas’s racing foam for superior bounce and spring with each step.

But this max cushion shoe also had its drawbacks. While the ride was fun and springy, I also found myself wanting a bit more groundfeel and stability over the course of my runs.

So when I first heard about the Hyperboost Run, I was intrigued. In theory, this more moderate-cushioned Hyperboost shoe should give me exactly what I was looking for – bouncy, versatile landings that don’t sacrifice stability.

I couldn’t wait to lace up the shoe, hit the roads, and see how this brand-new adidas model performs. And if, like me, you were curious about what the adidas Hyperboost Run has to offer, you’re in the right place. The Marathon Sports team learned all there is to know about this new shoe’s features, specs, and highlights. We also conducted thorough road testing and research so we can offer the best possible insight and recommendations for all your running needs.

The Nitty-Gritty Details

Now, let’s dive into all the technology and key details you can expect to find in the new adidas Hyperboost Run.

Hyperboost Pro Midsole

The most versatile daily trainers usually blend lots of midsole cushioning with a responsive and energetic foam compound to support you through all different paces and distances. With a moderate-to-high stack of dynamic foam, Hyperboost Run does exactly that in its midsole construction.

The 38/32 mm stack height provides plenty of protection underfoot, without sacrificing the stability and groundfeel we missed out on in the Hyperboost Edge.

Like its max cushion counterpart, however, the Hyperboost Run uses Hyperboost Pro foam in the midsole. This pelletized cushioning is made from the brand’s Lightstrike Pro premium racing foam, giving the shoe an airy feel with lots of spring and energy return.

Woven PRIMEWEAVE Upper

Along with the high-performance midsole, adidas incorporates its high-performance PRIMEWEAVE upper for a lightweight, secure, and flexible fit.

Zoned engineering throughout the material adds targeted airflow and breathability to optimize comfort in any environment. In terms of fit, the material hugs the foot and keeps you feeling secure as you move. The gusseted tongue aids in this security for a premium, stable feel across all your miles.

Shoe Geometry & Overall Construction

The 6 mm drop is another feature worth mentioning in the Hyperboost Run. This is a relatively low drop – especially compared to many other adidas shoes – which promotes a more natural foot strike and all-around alignment.

While this 6 mm drop is great for mid- to forefoot strikers, a flared heel ensures there’s plenty of cushioning and shock absorption for heel strikers. There’s also a late-stage forefoot rocker. This curved forefoot rolls you through your stride later in the gait cycle, as you toe-off.

Value & Durability

We know running shoes aren’t cheap, so you likely want a running shoe that holds up well and offers lots of value for your money. The good news? The Hyperboost Run does both.

The lightweight design and bouncy, responsive foam make this shoe incredibly versatile. You can wear it for longer runs, everyday training runs, and even some uptempo speed work. It can easily work as a do-it-all trainer, replacing several shoes in a rotation. The sleek, stylish design means it can even double as a casual, everyday shoe for days running errands or walking around town.

The LIGHTTRAXION outsole boosts durability and longevity, so you can enjoy all these features for more miles. This thin, lightweight outsole covers the majority of the sole for strategic grip. Two Continental forefoot pods bite into the ground with every toe-off, delivering superior traction through each gait cycle.

Road Test Results

Our review team was excited to lace up the Hyperboost Run and see how the second installment in the Hyperboost series felt and performed. While there was a lot we loved about the Hyperboost Edge, there were also a few downsides with stability, so we were eager to see if this was a more stable, versatile daily training option.

And I’m happy to report that the Hyperboost Run certainly delivered a secure, well-balanced ride that felt suitable for all types of runs. The Hyperboost Pro foam was still springy, responsive, and fun, but the lower stack height and firmer feel made it easier to feel the ground and maximized confidence and security.

With that, you don’t get the same plush, super soft landings found in some other everyday trainers. This won’t be an issue for those who prefer a responsive feel, but our review team members who preferred a softer ride did find it a bit too firm as they got into longer mileage.

The overall construction was streamlined and agile, making it incredibly versatile and adaptable. The 38/32 mm stack height ensured there was plenty of cushioning and protection for long runs and daily miles. But when it was time to pick up the pace, the firmer, more stable landings and lightweight design came into play.

The shoe incorporates some new technology, but it also includes some reliable, well-established elements. The engineered woven PRIMEWEAVE upper has consistently delivered lightweight, flexible comfort around the top of the foot in adidas shoes, and the Hyperboost Run is no exception. There’s some targeted structure and breathability, with a soft gusset tongue for a snug, secure fit.

The 3D anatomic heel collar improves fit and comfort, both with the initial step-in and across longer mileage. The material is incredibly soft and flexible, reducing any uncomfortable rubbing or friction around the ankle.

While the shoe is soft and adaptive around the heel, we did find that the rest of the upper isn’t quite as accommodating, especially in the forefoot. Many adidas trainers have a more snug fit, and while this might work for those who prefer a narrow, performance-focused feel, anyone who prefers a more spacious fit may want to look elsewhere.

At $170, the Hyperboost Run is also a bit pricier compared to standard moderate cushion daily trainers. But we also found that with so much versatility, it can easily fill the role of several shoes in a standard running shoe rotation. So those looking for a single shoe will likely find its ability to effortlessly adapt to all paces and efforts worth the extra cost.

Hyperboost Run Pros and Cons

While we found the max cushion Hyperboost Edge a bit polarizing due to all the bouncy cushioning, the Hyperboost Run offers a more traditional, stable feel that could work for a wide range of runners. But while the shoe is certainly more versatile, it does have a few downsides of its own to keep in mind. Here’s a rundown of all the pros and cons we uncovered:

Pros

  • Lightweight, agile, and responsive design makes it versatile enough for all your training runs, from longer everyday mileage to uptempo runs
  • Hyperboost Pro foam is still bouncy and energetic, but the lower stack height offers a more stable, grounded ride
  • Upper is light and breathable, with a flexible, anatomic heel collar that securely hugs the feet
  • LIGHTTRAXION outsole and Continental forefoot pods provide grip and durability without adding excess bulk

Cons

  • PRIMEWEAVE upper has some benefits, but may feel too narrow for those who prefer a wider, more spacious toe box
  • Firmer cushioning is more stable but will likely feel too rigid for those who prefer soft, plush landings

Hyperboost Run vs the Competition: How Do They Compare?

We already discussed the Hyperboost Run vs. the first model in the lineup, the Hyperboost Edge. But how does this new model stack up next to comparable shoes?

Throughout road testing, the Hyperboost Run did draw some comparisons to another popular adidas shoe, the Evo SL. Like the Hyperboost Run, this is a lightweight, uptempo trainer that can handle a wide range of runs.

At $150, the Evo SL is the more affordable option between the two. However, the slightly softer, bouncier foam can make it feel a bit more unstable than the Hyperboost Run. While it shines on uptempo days or shorter runs, you won’t get quite as much versatility.

If you like the Hyperboost Run’s versatility, you may also want to check out the Hoka Clifton Pro. It’s slightly heavier than the Hyperboost Run – 10.44 oz for men’s and 8.54 for women’s – but has a similar stable yet bouncy ride perfect for all paces, distances, and effort levels.

The Finish Line: Is the Hyperboost Run Right for You?

The Hyperboost running shoe line is all about energy, rebound, and bounce. These elements are all found in the Hyperboost Run. However, the bouncy foam is also combined with more stability, security, and groundfeel for a well-balanced ride, no matter where your workouts take you.

adidas has become a true standout in performance footwear, and it’s easy to see how it earned this reputation with the Hyperboost Run. And while this model still features all the high-performance elements we’ve come to expect from the brand, it offers a more adaptable, traditional feel that we think countless runners and walkers will enjoy.
