A Lightweight, Simplified Trainer With A Zero Drop
The all-new Altra Escalante 4 returns at a lighter weight with more flexibility, creating a versatile trainer to meet your daily needs. The decrease in outsole rubber and lower stack height creates a more connected experience to the ground while you run.
Cushioning has been revamped with 24 millimeters of Altra EGO™ midsole foam, allowing you to feel connected to the ground while absorbing impact. This midsole also includes InnerFlex™ technology, adding grooves throughout the midsole to allow for more flexibility and movement. Altra also includes their Original Footshape™ fit in the Escalante 4, allowing room for your toes to spread naturally while securing the midfoot.
Lacing up you’ll notice the engineered knit upper, creating a comfortable sock-like fit that offers a forgiving fit. This upper design allows for comfortable movement while maintaining a breathable experience while you move.

Love these shoes!
The women's Altra Escalante 4 running shoes are so very comfortable! This is my fourth pair, and they are the best running shoes I've ever worn!

my favorite shoes
This is my 5th (6th?) pair of Escalante 4s and I love them. I run/walk 40 miles a week and these are my favorite shoes. I love the roomy toe box and the feeling of being supported but still having cushion. The only request I would make for any future editions is longer laces. I like to use the top hole and the laces that come with the shoe are just barely too short for that. Otherwise, Altra, keep doing your thing!

Oh Altra, I almost broke up with you so many times. We've had some ups and downs through every new addition (if it ain't broke, don't fix it!) I'm glad I gave it another shot. The Escalante 4s feel like the originals or 1.5s. The sole is more flexible than the previous edition and the sizing is more accurate too. For the love of your customers, Altra, don't go changing things again! Just stick with this one and make more when you run out, or give us some fun colors. The shoe itself is great.

Great shoes!
The Altra Escalante is my favorite shoe. Bought these for a trip to Portugal and broke them in in no time. So comfortable! Love the color gray.

Lightweight, Comfy Shoes; Perfect Half-Marathon Trainers!
I’ve only had these for about a month but I really like them. They are nice and lightweight, comfortable, and feel great when I run in them. I am training for a half marathon and so far, so good! I cannot speak to the durability since I just purchased them, but we will see how they stand up with all the training I am doing.
