DNA Loft v3 has more stack than before: 37mm in the heel and 27 up front, and the feel divides people pretty cleanly. It’s not soft in any bouncy or energetic way. We’d say more firm and controlled, which suits the shoe’s whole personality. Don’t buy it expecting a ton of cushioning.
The upper is standard Brooks, with engineered mesh, solid midfoot wrap, and a heel that feels as secure as a sock. The padded tongue and collar need a few runs to loosen up, which is a minor annoyance on the first couple of wears. But after that, no complaints. Grip is reliable, and the shoe wears well over time.

Underfoot, you’re getting FF BLAST MAX paired with PureGEL in the heel. Landings are well-cushioned, though the midsole leans more mellow than lively. It doesn’t kick you forward the way some newer foams do, and we imagine that was intentional, considering Asics focuses on comfort.

Plenty of shoes claim “max cushion,” but the Mizuno Wave Sky 9 actually feels like it was built around that idea from the ground up. The midsole stacks Mizuno Enerzy Next and Enerzy NXT foam into a thick platform that compresses beautifully when you land, giving it a softer feel than older Mizuno models ever had. It’s still not trampoline-like, though.
A lot of that stability comes from the geometry. Runners get a wide platform and a wave-inspired midsole structure. Even with the thick foam stack, they never feel wobbly. Heel strikers especially will appreciate how cushioned the first contact feels on long pavement runs.
The upper leans toward comfort over minimalism, with knit construction and tons of collar and tongue padding. It’s more of a plush trainer than you’d expect.
