The Ride has always been Saucony’s middle-of-the-road trainer, and the 19 keeps that identity intact. Even in the throw-the-kitchen-sink-at-it era of shoes, there’s not any crazy geometry or oversized midsole. It’s just a straight-up daily trainer that handles regular miles well.
The midsole is made of PWRRUN+, which lands firmly in the middle of the cushioning spectrum. Not soft. Not especially springy either. Some reviewers say it can feel dense at first, but it eventually settles into a steady rhythm after a few minutes of movement.
The upside is consistency. It doesn’t really matter what pace you prefer. Jog, cruise, tack on a few quicker miles at the end. It all feels basically the same underfoot. Some runners will want more energy back. Others will appreciate that the foam doesn’t get squishy as the run drags on.
Saucony kept the upper pretty minimal. The engineered mesh is thin and flexible, and there’s just enough structure around the midfoot to keep it locked down. We like that the forefoot has a little more space than older Rides did, which is a nice little cherry on top for stability.

The upper is one of our favorite parts of the shoe. It has a dialed fit with proper lockdown and premium step-in comfort.

This shoe is also highly durable, with a thick, sturdy compressed rubber outsole with excellent grip. Runners can still feel the ground fairly well, and the CloudTec offers some flexibility. Both the heel lining and outer toe can withstand wear, making these great shoes for outdoor running.
If you like to push yourself to your limits, the Cloudmonster 3 can keep up. The design also accommodates wide feet, allowing you to get the best quality without squishing your toes.
HOKA Bondi 9
HOKA is a company known for its generosity when it comes to cushioning. For years, the Wave Sky sat in a strange spot. It looked like a max-cushion cruiser, but the ride never quite lived up to the promise. Version 9 finally fixes that. Mizuno decided to stick with the nitrogen-infused midsole, which uses Enerzy NXT foam, but stacked it atop a base layer of Enerzy for added stability.
This means soft landings with foam that rebounds just enough not to feel like it’s swallowing your stride. A lot of our reviewers feel like the ride has a livelier feel than older Wave Sky models ever managed.
The cushioning also holds together over distance. This is a lot of shoe underfoot. Even so, it’s surprisingly stable once you get rolling. It doesn’t feel like a race shoe, and the added weight from its predecessor makes that clear, but for steady miles and longer efforts, it has a solid rhythm to it.
Adidas Supernova Rise 3
One of the first things we noticed about the Supernova 3 was how stable the platform feels for a shoe in this price range. Most budget-friendly trainers cut corners somewhere, but this one holds its ground surprisingly well. The midsole is on the firm side, which helps explain it. Instead of that soft, sink-in sensation you get from newer foams, it gives you a more controlled ride.
Heel strikers will probably get the most out of it. There’s about 30.7 mm of stack in the heel, which takes enough edge off the pavement for daily runs. However, there’s also a noticeable lack of foam in the forefoot, so we honestly wouldn’t recommend it for super long stretches. It’s better suited to short-distance efforts.
The upper is breathable but doesn’t feel flimsy, and the fit leans roomy compared to a lot of adidas models. Overall, it’s simple, stable, and doesn’t lean too hard in any direction.
