Move from road to trail with ease in the new Mount to Coast H1, a hybrid trainer that's designed with durability and comfort in mind

Mount to Coast has been growing exponentially as their new and innovative footwear reaches the hands (or feet) of eager runners. Their expanding range of footwear now includes the Mount to Coast H1, a road-to-trail hybrid running shoe that embodies the spirit of the Energizer Bunny; it just keeps going.
The H1 midsole utilizes a CircleCELL™ midsole, delivering impeccable performance comparable to PEBA, all while being crafted from sustainable materials. Even more impressive, Mount to Coast’s eco-friendly foam boasts almost double the longevity compared to PEBA-based midsole. Underfoot, this trainer sports more cushioning than you’d expect at first, while maintaining that responsive energy return.
Moving from road to trail, or vice versa, can create confusion when choosing your footwear. The H1 helps eliminate doubt with its durable VersaGrip™ outsole, providing adaptive traction and grip across various terrains. Its upper is also designed with adaptability in mind, using jacquard on the top portion and a high-performance woven fabric on the bottom. No need to worry about durability because this upper has been reinforced with aramid fibers that are five times stronger than steel.
To wrap up a well-designed shoe such as this, Mount to Coast included what they call their TUNEDFIT™ Dual Lacing System. This system features two separate lacing options found in the forefoot and midfoot, allowing you to customize your unique fit. The H1 can slot into that unique gap in your shoe rotation for runs that include road and trail, or be used for daily runs without a second thought.

MTC H1’s are great shoes! I have 3 runs in them so far and am very pleased. They are light weight, very stylish and the dual lacing system is awesome! The sole is very flexible yet the ride feels a little stiff when walking (feels softer while running).

Great shoe even better service!

Comfortable and bouncy, with really good traction over gravel and grassy surfaces. Amazing daily trainer that can pick up speed if needed. Durable and stylish, I sometimes wear it casually for walks!

Love them, got about 25miles on them and so far they are great. I use them when rucking.

I had high expectations for this shoes based on all that I had read and I gotta say, I was/am still impressed. The upper build quality is excellent, the midsole is just right in terms of bounce and stability, and the outsole is grippy, substantial, and yet good for paved roads also. With the long expected life expectancy to boot, they kind of nailed it with this one. I have M2C’s T1’s also but I’m just not reaching for them anymore now with the H1’s around. No regrets.

This shoe is absolutely incredible! Being a new shoe company, I was hesitant to try Mount To Coast. To my surprise, they blew me away with the ultimate versatility of this H1 shoe. It is incredibly light, stable, tons of pop in the foam and extremely comfortable! I have only put about 30 miles on them so I cannot get a test to the durability and will post a later review down the road. So far, these are perfect for my daily training miles on road and light gravel trails. This shoe performs like a pure road shoe so don’t let the 2mm lugs deter you from using it as a road shoe. I’ll be buying more of these in the future and cannot wait to see what other shoes they release in 2026.

Having the R1 and T1s in my regular running footwear rotation already, I found these to be the most comfortable Mount to Coast performance running shoes yet. Great for pavement or for packed dirt. I wore these during a snowstorm and they performed great. I would still recommend the T1s for more aggressive terrain like heavy snow, ice, underbrush, mud etc.

It took me a few runs to get the laces dialed in, but these are amazing on road and trail. Ive done a bunch of dry road and buffed trail, but also a 25k in a torrential downpour. They held up great through mud and deep puddles and drained well.

Overall a 8 out of 10. Great shoe if you are going from house to trail. The lugs are small so I would go for the T1 if you have steep rocky climbs. The cushioning is awesome, not pillow like but forgiving. The dual lacing is interesting but good once you get the hang of it. "Hold the outer edge of the keeper when tightening the lower lace." I would buy again.
