Asics Superblast vs Asics Novablast Compared
Shoe and Gear Reviews
The Asics Superblast 2 gives you an energetic and responsive experience while cushioning each step with its high stack of premium midsole foam.

The Asics Superblast 2 is without a doubt one of this year’s most anticipated running shoes and the wait is finally over. The Superblast 2 keeps the best parts from the original Superblast and changes only a few things, embracing an ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ approach. The most notable change is the overhaul of the midsole.
Previously made with FF Blast™ Plus and FF Blast™ Turbo, the new Superblast 2 now features FF Blast™ Plus Eco and FF Turbo™ Plus. The top layer is Asic’s lightest and most responsive cushioning available, giving this performance running shoe the energetic feeling it’s known for. On the bottom layer, you’ll find the eco-friendly midsole foam that adds bounce and rebound to each step while lowering the overall carbon footprint.
When you lace up you’ll notice the woven engineered mesh upper, adding a bit of stretch and flexibility to its construction. This material helps increase airflow to keep your feet feeling cool while also offering a soft and comfortable fit. To increase comfort and fit even more, the Superblast 2 utilizes a gusseted tongue with wing fit system. This design improves midfoot fit and helps reduce the chances of the tongue sliding and moving around while you’re running.
The Asics Superblast 2 features a trampoline-inspired outsole design, providing a responsive rebound to each step. Where the rubber meets the road you’ll notice the ASICSGRIP™ outsole, a unique propriety outsole from Asics that greatly improves outsole durability while adding much-needed traction.

First off, I loved the Vital Green color!! They even had sparkles on the lower part of the shoe which was a wonderful surprise. They were a lot stiffer than I was used to and not that much cushion. The rocker bouncy part of them was new to me as well. When I ran in them, it felt like they made a lot of friction on the insides of my feet which felt like it would become a hot spot for a blister for a long run. I always wear an 8.5 in women's which is a 7 in mens/ unisex and have 4 other Asics models right now in that size that work great for me. The superblast 2s are very narrow in the toebox and run small. They felt tight right away and when I ran in them I could feel my left outside toes going numb after 3 miles and I could feel my toes touching the front of the shoe, so I had to return them. I have heard that the Superblast 3s have made all of the adjustments to what I wasn't pleased with the Superblast 2s (more comfort, less stiff, and a slightly wider toe box). I didn't like the shoelaces that came with the shoes either, they were the waxy kind that come undone easily, so I had ordered some lime green cotton flat laces that I was going to swap with those, but since I returned them I never got a chance to switch them. I am going to go up a half size and I hope they work better for me. The only disappointing part is that the color options for the Superblast 3s aren't anywhere as cute as the Vital Green color and I don't know if I will get any Sparkles.

SB2 continues to be the best all rounder in my opinion. Protects my feet on long miles and fast enough. I’ll be looking forward to trying out the SN3 soon

Good long run trainer. I find my lower body weaknesses come out when I wear them which is not necessarily a bad thing, just I don’t think theyre the most beginner friendly shoe. Definitely want to use for those key long run sessions at least for me.

I love the Asics Superblast 2 as a no-plate option for long runs, and quite frankly, daily runs too. They are sturdy and stable without being too stiff to go long and springy for shorter runs when I want a bit of pop that isn’t too aggressive. Loved them so much I also bought in green. Filling out the rotation for marathon and 70.3 training this year!

I’ve cycled though so many shoes trying to find something fast, but still comfortable and supportive. The SB2 is it. Without a doubt, my favorite running shoe of all time.

Love these shoes. My 3rd pair in them. Recently ran in them to pace my wife to her first marathon in 3:42:00! Kept me comfortable and stable the whole time. Best used for long steady runs.

Fast delivery, amazing shoes

These shoes treat your feet and legs so nicely. I've taken them on two long runs (16+ miles) and I've never felt better the day after a long run, no soreness at all. I've also heard great reviews from friends on durability that they can easily get 400+ miles without and noticeable difference in performance.

These shoes are one of the best running shoes I have used in more than 10 years of running. This is the second pair I buy.

I recently got these Asics Superblast 2 for my daily runs, and I’m blown away by how comfortable they are! The cushioning feels supportive but not bulky, and the fit is perfect (true to size for me). They also look great—love the subtle purple accents with the gray base. I’ve logged 20+ miles so far, and my feet feel way less fatigued than with my old sneakers. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a reliable, stylish running shoe!

Like a firmer novablast with a more intense rocker. Been exclusively reusing this for long runs and excited to see its longevity. While I love the novablast, the foam died early and I’m hopeful this will last longer. Sizing is a bit weird because unisex—recommend sizing down if you have narrow feet.

Fantastic long run shoe that allows you to pick up the pace and feel sturdy. I’m a fan of the sturdy feel and it so much the cloud / comfort feel. If you’re looking for that this shoe is not for you. Would 100% recommend.

I love this shoe. I ran approximately 450 miles in my previous pair, mostly as a daily trainer and long run shoe but also including the long runs that have workouts. I plan on using this pair to run Marine Corps Marathon in October

These are my go to favorite running shoes for long distance runs. They are lightweight and springy but not so much that I feel it on my knees and hips. From 5K to marathon, these shoes have been my all time favorite for quite some time.

NICE superblast
Jennifer Secor
My long slow runs are in the Gel Nimbus and my speed work is in the Novablast 5. After scouring online reviews decided I wanted the Superbast 2 to hopefully bridge the gap and be my half marathon race shoe. Put 20 miles in on them in the first two days! Very comfortable and responsive shoe for longer mileage days at a tempo/threshold pace.
Linnea Drew
I love these shoes! These are my daily trainers that I can also do speedwork and races in. Best shoes I’ve ever run in.
Reza Amirmoshiri
This shoe enables me to pick up the pace under any condition, specifically at the end of long progressive runs. It's my second pair.

Absolutely love this shoe! The thick foam ensures youre protected across long runs and it’s surprisingly light, which allows you to take it across paces. I went true to size (US 8) though there’s a lot of room in the toebox still for me

Got about 50 miles on the shoes and my legs (especially my knees) feel great after my long runs so far!

I love the superblast 2; great shoes. I can't run with carbon plate shoes, so this is the best option for me for fast pace. I did a great PR with them, love them!

Sized up .5 for a better fit for long runs and harder efforts. Foam is great support for a wide range of runs.

Great running shoe, it definitely lives up to the hype around them. Not too soft underfoot, great rebound while running. I would recommend this shoe to any runner.

superblast best product.
Emmanuel Fortin
Perfect all around shoes! Runs a bit small: I am a 7US in leather boots, and 8US for the superblast fits perfectly. They are great for tempo and interval training, and I use them for faster longer run. That said, pretty sure you can anything with them.

The Asics Superblast 2 are simply my favorite pair of running shoes ever created, and Marathon Sports is the reason why I now have FOUR of them - in stock more often than any other retailer, and stands behind the products they sell. I used to have a complex running shoe rotation, and now it’s down to 2, maybe 3 pairs, and then my racers. The superblasts are absolutely worth the money as they triple down as long run, easy/daily run, and tempo. And it’s not even a case of “Jack of all trades master of none” - they EXCEL at all three of these even compared to shoes that are specifically designed for a single type of run. Feels kinda silly having 4 pairs because these guys have barely any wear, but at the same time, I’m able to sleep at night knowing I’m stocked up in case they choose to change em up next version. (And don’t be surprised if 4 turns to 6 in the near future lol). Enjoy!

I had been running in the original Superblast since last year's Falmouth Road Race, and I was really excited to get a pair of the Superblast 2's. This has become my go-to shoe when I need something lightweight and speedy. Our Run Club is used to seeing me wear these because they're a fast bunch and these shoes help me keep up with them lol. Compared to the original Superblast, I feel like the 2's fit a little more streamlined, and they have a snappier response (although the originals are seriously awesome too, the differences between them are small). I'm really happy that we just got a size run here at the store - now I can pull them for the Run Club the next time they ask!

I wore the Superblast 2 for the London Marathon and it exceeded expectations. Incredibly lightweight with just the right amount of bounce and cushioning to keep my legs feeling fresher deep into the race. No blisters, no fatigue hotspots — just smooth performance mile after mile. It's now my go-to for long runs and race day. Highly recommend!

Can’t say enough about how easy, simple, fast and efficient Marathon Sports are!!!! Highly recommend. The shoe, given my foot, was too narrow, and was returned unused. But it looks great, felt great - just not for me! If you have a wider foot, it may be snug. Which is odd as I have the Sky Paris and it is fine. Enjoy!

i love the shoe and time deliver was excellent comfort and great performance

really helpful for long distance :)

Light and bouncy. This shoe can handle all types of runs from easy to long tempos. The updated FF turbo+ is softer but still bouncy. Using it in the early stage of my marathon build, and feel it is perforect for those long runs blended with tempo miles. It is less agressive than carbon shoes on easy pace while can still push forward when picking up paces.
Anonymous
great shoe - durable, comfortable across long miles. not as responsive as some reviews would indicate, but it never dampens during the course of a run.
Christopher Larabee
Love the foam feels heel is a bit wide for my foot forcing heel lock lacing which is frustrating
Anonymous
I finally bought into the hype of this running shoe. I use this shoe for my long runs and races. While I do enjoy this shoe I do not feel it lives up to its hype. The fit is a little more firm, but still has a cushion feel. The tongue feels like there's extra material and it kind of bunches up for me. The outsole has more grip for traction.
Keenan Mussey
Second pair of this (2) series. Definitely an upgrade from the original Superblast. I still feel the shoe is a ‘bit’ clunky in heel striking and feels heavier than I want for a true tempo/fast workout…but after getting a few miles into your run… miles 10..19..25 all feel the same as the first few. It refuses to let your form get super ‘sloppy’ when fatigued. Great long run savior!
Jared McBride
These shoes have an amazing feel under your feet. They feel like they are light for their actual weight. The only thing for me is that they are a little too tight in the mid foot for my liking (I have slightly wider feet). But if you have normalish or narrow feet these will be an amazing option.
Anonymous
Love this shoe, but I do find it to be flattening out a lot faster than my original Superblast did
Anonymous
This is my second pair of Superblast 2s. They are by far my favorite shoe for long runs. Legs feel great the next day after 20+ miles. I did get half a size up for this pair than my previous pair and other ASICS shoes, which feels slightly more comfortable.
Anonymous
I read many reviews online before purchasing this shoe and vast majority said they run true to size. However, that was not my experience at all. I am almost always a 7.5 in women’s: Nike any shoe 7.5, Topo Cyclone 2 a 7.5, Adidas Evo SL 7.5, Puma any shoe 7.5, Hoka Mach X2 a 7.5. The only exception is NB Rebel v4 where I am an 8. So I ordered the women’s equivalent 7.5 in the SB2 and they were a full size too small! Not even half a size. Currently waiting to exchange but they felt relatively firm underfoot with a good rocker albeit slightly clunkier than I am used to. The upper is very comfortable.
Laura Silverman
I usually love a shoe update, but the SB2 is much tighter in the toe box than the SB1. I had to return these because my big toes were getting smushed and bruised. Such a bummer after completely loving the SB1. Hopefully version 3 will be better.
