GEAR SPOTLIGHT: Lightweight Jackets

Ultra Lightweight Running Jackets

Think about those first few warm days at the beginning of spring. Usually it’s around the middle or end of March. You look out your window and suddenly everything feels reborn. You look at your winter running gear and bid it adieu until next season, in favor of some bright colors and lightweight fabrics.

The months of March and April present us with a perfect opportunity to test out one of our favorite product categories: lightweight jackets! After a winter full of layers upon layers, soft shells, insulated half-zips, reflective piping anywhere and everywhere, and feeling like a sausage with your baselayer tucked into your tights, throwing on a lightweight jacket feels SO LIBERATING.

These jackets feel like a breath of fresh air after a long, cold winter. Free of the dark, muted colors and heavy fabrics appropriate for the winter, spring jackets offer a pop of color to energize your run, buttery soft fabrics that flow with your body, and some pretty neat accents.

Coming up this month, we will highlight our two favorite spring jackets, now in select Marathon Sports stores: the Better Than Naked by The North Face, and the Cascadia Shell by Brooks. Both are super lightweight, soft as silk, and the perfect addition to your springtime running wardrobe.
