Tracksmith Eliot Ryder Review: A High Cushion Shoe in Disguise
Shoe and Gear Reviews

When it comes to sustainability in the running world, the hylo Impact leads by example. Built with bio-based materials such as castor beans, this daily trainer proves nature can perform as good, or better than her synthetic counterparts.
The hylo Impact is a pleasant surprise in the best possible way, delivering a well-cushioned experience that feels soft yet bouncy as you move. This underfoot sensation is mostly due to hylo’s HyperBolt™ technology, a nitrogen-injected, supercritical foam with bio-based EVA. The rest of the credit can go towards PureGlide™ geometry, a specific way of shaping the midsole that encourages smooth transitions that maintain stability from heel to toe.
Inspired by Formula 1 tires, the hylo Impact outsole increases traction while reducing weight with strategic cutouts. Made with 60% natural rubber and averaging about 2.5 mm in thickness, the outsole also increases overall durability, helping to extend the longevity of the shoe. Tie up the 100% bio-based laces and you’ll notice a comfortable knitted upper. This lightweight upper is made with 100% bio-based nylon and features a water-repelling DWR coating, giving you a fit you can feel good about.
The hylo Impact is a great choice as a daily trainer and offers plenty of cushioning, and responsiveness, and is built to withstand the mileage you put in. “Run like the world depends on it” is the mission hylo has put forth and this running shoe is a step closer, it’s about as sustainably made as you can get (for now.) Then when you’ve run through them, hylo’s Hyloop™ recycling program will turn them into something new, reach out to hylo for more information.

Seems great so far, very grippy rubber and the foam has nice energy return.

Im about the least cushy shoe person youd find, but these have shaken my worldview (at least when it comes to kicks).

Soft and bouncy. Ghost esque

Solid daily neutral shoe, compares well against an adidas Prima but with a softer version of a Brooks-like midsole.

I really like how the shoe looks and feels. It has so much energy, the first few steps out the door in them felt amazing. For some reason, the end of my 6 mile run didn't feel as good, so I have been wearing them for work/walking around insead, and recently wore them to a HIIT workout class. I love how they feel really stable with the tread and wider bottom, and still have that really cushioned feeling. I actually liked them and the look so much that I ordered a second pair for my sister as a wedding gift!
