Intuitive GPS watch with terrific battery life [Staff Review]

The R300 was very easy to set up – I just downloaded the TIMEX Smart app and paired it with my phone. The initial set up prompted entry of a daily step or distance goal and the watch tracked progress towards it- a nice feature for folks with daily activity goals. The battery life was terrific – I charged it the first night and used the GPS for outdoor runs about every other day (with no syncing of my phone notifications or continuous heart rate monitoring) and still didn’t need to recharge it at 2 weeks! I found the post run read out on the app was very clean and easy to follow. After syncing the watch with my phone, the data displayed on the app included: - a map of my run with an overlaying color code to illustrate pace along the route (see sample screen shot below), - an overall run summary, - a chart detailing heart rate zones and duration at each, - lap pace and time information and, - a screen with graphs of pace, heart rate, elevation, and cadence (see sample screen shot below). I personally found the color key indicating pace on the map and the cadence graph to be the most informative data. The elevation data was also cool to review especially for runs on trails. I found the physical watch itself to be lightweight on the wrist and the display easy to read. There are three different built-in watch faces and I opted to use the horizontal orientation (see image below). The timer feature was helpful for timing things like intervals of planks. I did find the watch quickly defaulted to the home screen after the set time had elapsed. While working out I had to navigate back (using the buttons) to the timing function to set up the next timed interval. My existing Timex watch (without GPS) remains in the timing mode until you manually navigate back to the home screen. It would be awesome to see this feature carried over in the R300. In conclusion, I found this to be an awesome watch for capturing more data on runs or walks without a steep learning curve.

Best GPS watch I've ever worn

I was looking for an affordable GPS watch that I could use both outside and on the treadmill. I didn't want to break the bank in the process and this fits the bill. This watch has notifications, texts and I'm amazed at the battery life. I keep looking at the watch thinking I need to recharge, but NO! Love the battery life! The screen is not as vibrant as Apple Watch, but I will take the longer battery life with similar features any day. The set up process is quick and easy and the GPS connected quickly for my first outdoor run. I have a small wrist, but the silicone strap fits comfortably. I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend this Timex R300 to anyone!
