For National Hydration day, we’ve reached out to local sports nutritionists and dietitians to share their favorite fun summery ways to stay hydrated! Dress up your water with some fruit and ice. Certified Registered Dietitian and Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics Briana Bruinooge shares how she stays hydrated with her Nuun watermelon and mint drink.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  • Dissolve 1 tablet of Nuun Energy Watermelon in 16 oz of water. Let it sit for 2 minutes and stir making sure it is all dissolved.
  • Add 1/2 cup ice.
  • Add 1/2 cup of fresh, seedless watermelon cut into cubes.
  • Next, slap and tear a few sweet mint leaves (to enhance flavor) and add them on top of your watermelon drink.
  • Enjoy!
SBriana_making_refreshing_nuun_watermelon_drinktaying hydrated is extremely important for runners. Women need 2.7 liters a day to stay hydrated (fellas – you’re at 3.7 liters), especially if you’re active. Runners lose 300 mg of sodium or more when they are running for an hour or more. Make sure to check out our hydration guide.
