GEAR REVIEW: The North Face Better Than Naked Jacket

More lightweight jackets! This one (in addition to the Brooks Cascadia Shell we featured a few days ago) is a springtime favorite. Now all we need is the weather to behave.

This jacket provides a great deal of versatility for unpredictable weather conditions. It offers wind and water resistance to protect you from the whipping wind we’ve experienced lately. It can be worn over a thermal baselayer for a day like today, or thrown on over a t-shirt for a late spring rain shower. It’s soft as silk and moves with your body whether you’re running, walking, or commuting.

Here’s what we love about it:

This piece is only stitched in critical areas, which means it fits more like a midlayer than a stiff jacket. Articulated sleeves mean that the jacket moves with you as you run.

That cool design you see on the jacket isn’t just for show. It’s reflective! 360* of reflectivity help keep you safe on the roads this spring – because we’re still doing quite a bit of running in the dark, unfortunately.

Vented panels on the upper back and sides help keep your body temperature regulated, so if it ever actually gets warm out (PLEASE), you’ll be comfortable.

You get a huge zip pocket on the lower back to store gels, ID, gloves, or whatever else you take on the run.

Much like the Cascadia Shell, this jacket is made of a silky soft material that is so light you barely even feel it. Try it on – we know you’ll love it.

The Better Than Naked Jacket by The North Face ($120) is available in select Marathon Sports locations.
