INJURY INFORMATION
Handy guides developed in conjunction with Brooks sports to help runners and walkers combat common injuries. As with any injury, it is important to consult a doctor, physical therapist, or health care practitioner you trust for the best results.
ACHILLES TENDONITIS
An injury which most often manifests itself as a tugging or sharp pain along the back of the calf muscles and near the insertion at the heel.
BUNIONS
A common condition characterized by calcified growths at any of the metatarsal joints in the foot, typically the big toe.
HIP PAIN
A host of injuries and conditions manifest themselves as pain in the hip/hip flexors.
I.T. BAND SYNDROME
One of the most common injuries we see, often characterized by sharp lateral knee pain.
NEUROMAS
A condition in which the nerves and nerve sheaths in the foot are either swollen or inflamed, and caused frequently by ill-fitting footwear.
PLANTAR FASCIITIS
The other most common injury seen at Marathon Sports, often a sharp pain in either the heel or the ball of the foot.
RUNNER'S KNEE
A host of factors can lead to this condition, typically marked by dull, persistent pain to the medial side of the patella.
SHIN SPLINTS
Dull or sometimes sharp pains along either the medial or lateral side of the tibia.
