There are so many great updates to stability running shoes coming out this fall – and the New Balance 860v7 is one of our favorites.

img_7367The 860 is a great shoe for runners that overpronate and need some midfoot support, but who also want something that offers a soft, smooth ride from heel to toe. Version 7 has incorporated a few key updates to give you the ideal balance between stability and cushion. This is a shoe you’ll want to do all your runs in!

For some background on the shoe, check out our review of version 6, which came out last October.

KEY UPDATES:

TRUFUSE Cushioning Technology

img_7379Combines two different cushioning foams to give you a good balance between soft and firm. New Balance has stacked a softer foam (called ACTEVA) on top of a firmer foam (called ABZORB). So you get a nice soft step-in feel but maintain the stable ride that you need.

LOWER OFFSET

img_7460This version of the 860 has a 10mm offset (previous models had a 12mm offset). This means that your heel sits 10mm higher than your forefoot. The slight decrease in offset means that the 860v7 will give you a more natural ride than its predecessors, allowing you to improve your running form without sacrificing any stability.

ENGINEERED MESH

img_7381Everyone’s doing engineered mesh these days – for good reason. This mesh is flexible and conforms to the foot – which means that shoes can fit a wider range of foot shapes! The engineered mesh upper wraps your foot comfortably with fewer sewn-on overlays.

The New Balance 860v7 ($124.99) is available in men’s size 8-13 and women’s size 6-11 in all Marathon Sports locations. Stop by and try them out!
